Join us for an ICDE Webinar on the UNESCO OER forthcoming recommendations

ICDE Ambassadors for the global advocacy of OER and the UNESCO ICDE OER Chairs will reflect and discuss the UNESCO OER recommendations during this webinar hosted by ICDE and the ICDE OER Advocacy Committee. In addition, a recent global study on OER from UNESCO, the impacts, achievements, and challenges of OER will be presented. Webinar participants are invited to a lively dialogue after the presentations are completed.

On 27 and 28 May 2019, UNESCO held the meeting of the Intergovernmental Special Committee on the draft recommendations for OER. Previously, the draft had been prepared for consultation with experts and expert organisations around the world. The final recommendations will be published in November 2019.

During the expert meeting the definitions on OER and Open License were updated:

OER

Open Educational Resources (OER) are learning, teaching and research material in any format and medium that resides in the Public Domain or are under the copyright that has been released under an open license that permits no-cost access, reuse, repurpose, adaptation and redistribution by others.

Open license

Open license refers to a license that respects the intellectual property rights of the copyright owner and provides permissions granting the public the rights to access, re-use, re-purpose, adapt, and redistribute educational materials.
