The ICDE Quality Network webinar on September 22nd was the second webinar in a series of three, and was presented by the Regional Focal Points.

This second webinar was opened by ICDE Secretary General, Ms. Torunn Gjelsvik, and chaired by Professor Alan Tait (Open University, UK), and showcased a regional focus on North America and Latin America/Caribbean with a specific look at quality assurance in assessment. North American representative Dr. Yaping Gao (Senior Academic Director at Quality Matters, USA) and Latin American representative Dr. Santiago Acosta (Director at the Private Technical University of Loja, Ecuador) spoke from their respective perspectives on the matter.

Dr. Gao thoughtfully brought up the idea of ‘alignment,’ and the importance of aligning and realigning assessment with measurable learning outcomes, specifically pulling from Blooms Taxonomy, which resonated with many participants. Dr. Acosta highlighted the overall impact on higher education institutions, teachers, and students alike. He discussed steps moving towards the ‘new normal’ and what that could look like in the future.

ICDE Quality Network’s second webinar attracted over 500 registrants, while nearly 200 people from 59 countries attended. The third and final webinar will be held in November, stay tuned for more information!
