ICDE visits our member’s campus in UAE
Prior to the THE Digital Universities MENA conference, the ICDE Secretary General visited our member Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) in Dubai, UAE.
Dr. Mansoor Al-Awar, Chancellor of HBMSU, received the ICDE Secretary General, Ms. Torunn Gjelsvik, at HBMSU’s campus in Dubai, and gave a tour of their smart campus - almost completely run by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Besides learning more about one of ICDEs long-standing members, another purpose of the visit was to discuss collaboration between ICDE and HBMSU.
In a bilateral meeting, ICDE and HBMSU discussed the strategic partnership aimed to re-launch the ICDE Global Doctoral Consortium (GDC) using the “Cloud Campus” platform. Present at the bilateral meeting was also Prof. Moustafa Hassan, Vice Chancellor for International Cooperation; and Elena Tarasova, Senior Manager for International Relations at HBMSU.

The ICDE GDC will be presented at a virtual launch event on 17 October at 15:00 CET. All ICDE members and contacts interested in supporting the future development of Open, Flexible and Distance Learning are welcome!
The ICDE GDC will be open to all PhD and Post Graduate students with an interest in the Open, Flexible and Distance Learning (OFDL) field.
