The UNESCO quality initiative well underway

UNESCO plans for organising the Global conference on Quality Assurance in Higher Education, in Paris, France, 21 – 23 November 2018, indicated target 700 participants by invitation.

ICDE is, together with Commonwealth of Learning, one of the core partners for this conference. Other partners are for example International Association of Universities, the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE) and more. To mobilise for the initative and prepare for the Global conference, three regional conferences have been conducted so far (Arab countries, Asia and Africa – Francophone).

The next Regional Conference for Western Europe takes place 15 -16 February, Geneva, information and programme here. The other regional conferences planned so far are

  • Eastern Europe and Central Asia, 22 – 23 April, Moscow

  • Africa - Anglophone, 21 – 23 May, Johannesburg

ICDE established its Global Quality Network in March 2017 through appointing 7 Focal Points on quality (FPQ) for different regions. The network has an advisory role to the ICDE Executive Committee and contributes directly to the regional events. Currently the network prepares regional SWOT analyses for quality digital, open and flexible education. More information about the Quality Network and the FPQs
