New development journal from the Commonwealth of Learning

 

ICDE member the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) has launched the Journal of Learning for Development (JL4D), with an inaugural issue that was published in early 2014. The new open online scholarly journal aims to provide a forum for practitioners and academics working in international development to share knowledge and experiences. The journal's Editor in Chief is Alan Tait of the Open University, UK, who is also a member of the ICDE Executive Committee.

The journal gives priority to case studies and applied research with clear practical outputs that can help improve practice in international development. Content focuses on innovation in learning and the use of open and distance learning to enhance social and economic development, including interventions that change social and/or economic relations – especially in terms of improving equity.Improving practice in international development

The inaugural issue includes two research studies, five invited articles and three book reviews.

Editorial team

An Editorial Review Board made up of accomplished scholars in the field of Learning for Development from all regions of the world provides the editorial team with advice and guidance on the editorial direction of the journal. The Chief Editor is Alan Tait, of the UK Open University, and the Associate Editor is Mark Bullen of the Commonwealth of Learning.

Submissions

The journal is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Licence and uses a continuous publication process. Articles may be submitted through the website. For further information, please contact jl4d@col.org.
