Consortium for Benchmarking Framework for Online, Open, Smart, and Technology-Enhanced Higher Education
The international consortium for Benchmarking Framework for Online, Open, Smart, and Technology-Enhanced Higher Education in partnership with ICDE aims to establish a common understanding of the quality in online and open higher education and exchange of best practices and experience among its members. The consortium was formed in February 2019 and currently unites online, open and smart universities worldwide as well as quality assurance agencies, higher education associations and organizations. By January 2021, an expert committee of the consortium co-designed the benchmarking framework and developed the set of dimensions and indicators that can help higher education institutions in self-assessment and quality assurance.
The consortium is open to new members from all regions of the world to provide diverse representation and global cooperation. It advocates for an inclusive approach and international dialogue in pursuit of the following objectives of the consortium:
Establish a common understanding and criteria for quality of online, open, smart and technology-enhanced higher education
Develop an evaluation framework that fully reflects the quality of the work of flexible, open and online institutions
Facilitate sharing of best practices
