The HANDSON project, including representatives from ICDE member institutions Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, Spain and Open Universiteit, the Netherlands, has released a benchmarking analysis of MOOCs for the continuous professional development of educators.

The European Commission supported HANDSON project is about facilitating the inclusion of ICT in education. Since the beginning of the project in January 2013 there has been a growing trend for designing and offering MOOCs for the continuous professional development of educators.

As part of the project, a project-based MOOC for educators during which participants learn to design ICT-based learning activities was run. It also formed the basis of the ICDE Bringing Educational Resources to Teachers in Africa (BERTA) initiative. The course contents will be available for download within the following weeks and anyone interested will be able to run the MOOC.

Meanwhile, the project team has compiled a benchmarking analysis of existing MOOCs for educators
